new blog style
okay, i'm sick of the structure. i'm just going to do what i want from now on. i'll blog, and i'll talk about what i like, and i'll talk about what you like, and i will take suggestions, and i will still be freespirited, and anyone who thinks they want to question that can talk right to me. :)
new idea
okay, people. i've got a new idea. i've decided to try searching for a word in a bunch of websites or on polyvore and putting together outfits that center around that word. oh, and i'm sick of rating the outifts. it seems a little dumb, since nobody really cares. if you want to know, then ask.

okay, this is super expensive because i had a really hard time finding stuff that looked 30s at good, cheap stores, so it's going to cost you a lot. (324.97, without tax or shipping, to be precise.) It's a lovely outfit. The corset makes it really devilish and sexy, but you've got that weird blazer with the cute Charlotte Russe belt (which will be tied tightly. puh-lease...) to set a balance. the skirt is sort of a flight attendant-looking addition to the outfit. the whole thing is sexy but reserved. the color scheme is still sort of "black-and-white photograph," but you'll start to see some color for the 40s, i promise. i love that "charcoal/cloudy/fuzzy black and white tv" look. it's weird, for sure, but who said i wasn't weird?
oh and by the way, for makeup there's not a color that i can choose for you. go with a powdery look for your face, lots of blush that's very carefully done (temple to cheek bone with an airbrushed look that fades), and matte shadow the color of your eyes (yes, i mean your irises. you've got blue eyes? put on blue shadow. green? use green shadow) applied thinly up to the crease. make the whole thing really faded and blended.
Black Satin Corset with Contrasting Piping from Ms. Martha's Corset Shoppe ($200.00)
Notes from Ms. Martha's Corset Shoppe:Your have seen it in leather and now you see it in silk. WOW WOW WOW Take a gander at the shape of this beauty. You can see the steel bones doing their work here. The black with white piping is usually in stock. You may go to the designers corner and design your own. Imagine the possibilities… I am thinking Black with Pink with red with cobalt blue… Imagine your wedding and doing it in white on white,,,,, You make your own statement by customizing it yourself. Design tip….buy a skirt to match the piping….. See you out there!!!!!! Please allow 6 to 8 weeks for custom orders.
Notes from sweet girl:wow, uh, thanks for the great notes, Ms. Martha's Corset Shoppe, but... what were you smoking?? anyway, though whoever did the website is obviously whacked out, the corset is great. it's expensive, but that's how corsets are. just remember that it's about a two thirds of the outfit's cost anyway, so you won't have to spend much more.
Patent Velvet Booties in Black and Gray from Charlotte Russe ($34.99)
Notes from Charlotte Russe:
Perfect for a polished look, these Patent Velvet Booties feature a velvet and patent faux leather, three button details, almond toe, 4" covered heel with interior platform, and a metallic lightly padded insole. Faux leather upper and rubber sole.
Notes from sweet girl:yay! a sane website designer and writer!!! okay, so these are sooo thirties. they're the star of this outfit. i love them.
Canvas Grommet Belt from Charlotte Russe ($8.99)
Notes from Charlotte Russe:
Accent your outfit with this Canvas Grommet Belt featuring canvas and matte faux leather, grommet details, and a burnished metal buckle.Notes from sweet girl:
this would be great even if it wasn't in my thirties outfit. it's amazing with everything.
put this over the blazer, above your hips.
Cotton Twill Trapeze Blazer in New Black from Old Navy ($20.00)
Notes from Old Navy:
Style "swings" eternal with this chic trapeze blazer. A touch of stretch offers supreme comfort.Notes from sweet girl:
okay, yes, it's from old navy. i know, it's weird. but it's thirties. and actually, it looks amazing with the belt.
Buttoned Pencil Skirt from Charlotte Russe ($22.99)
Notes from Charlotte Russe:
Go for a polished look with this Buttoned Pencil Skirt featuring button details down the front, 6 1/2" back slit, 3" waistband, and a back zipper closure. Size medium has a top-to-bottom hem length of 21 1/2". Machine washable.
Notes from sweet girl:this is pretty cool, but only wear it in context. if you want a full explanation for that, go to my navy spark look and read my notes on the two-toned pumps.
Starburst Cloche in Black from Urban Outfitters ($38.00)
Notes from Urban Outfitters:
Felted wool cloche with an upturned brim at the front and an oversized grosgrain starburst detail at the side. Exclusive to Urban Outfitters. Imported. Spot clean.
this is one of my all-time favorite hats. wear it anywhere and everywhere. it's got "street-chic" written all over it. you can wear it with boho stuff (maxi dresses, especially), slub stuff, etc., as well as pantsuits and bikini/beach style outfits to keep the sun out of your eyes and to keep yourself styling.

1920s: glamorous

here's my 20s look. i call it glamorous because that's what the 20s were: beautiful, fab, and just plain glamorous. i couldn't find much in the way of flapper dresses, but remember: this is inspired by the 20s. it's not exactly what they wore back then. anyway, the color scheme is black and white, because of all the black and white video clips and photos you see from the twenties. it's very lacy and old fashioned, and it puts off the air of an old book. you look at it, and it's mysterious, beautiful, and wonderful. it's a story, and a sexy story at that. enjoy.
Sexy Peep Toe Pumps ($22.50)
Notes from Wet Seal:
This pump is a must have basic! Featuring a solid color with a small peep toe, hidden 1" platform and a 4" heel.Notes from sweet girl:
i know what you're thinking: they're too fifties. and why are they silver? wtf, they come in black too! anyway. i have explanations for those. if you wore shoes that actually looked like they were from the 20s, you'd look like you were born in the 20s. they make you look old. and remember, we're going for glam, here. not an exact replica of a 1920s flapper. these were the most glamorous ones that fit the look. and about the silver... i just decided that if you wore the black ones you would look emo since the rest of the outfit is black. we need some variety, girls. come on.
Lace Thigh High by Wet Seal ($1.99)
Notes from Wet Seal:
This thigh high tight is a great layering piece for just about any outfit. Featuring a floral lace body with wide lace trim.Notes from sweet girl:
yes. yes, yes, yes, and yes. these are amazing, and you can't deny it. sexy, glamorous, and amazing. of course, you have to know what to wear them with, but i'm doing that for you, so i guess you don't. and yes, wet seal made some typos on the page for these, so talk to them about it, not me.
Draped Lace Mini Dress by Charlotte Russe ($29.99)
Notes from Charlotte Russe:
Go for a dark romantic look with this Draped Lace Mini Dress featuring a lace inset, scoop neck, deep back scoop, waterfall front with draped sides, shirring details, bubble hem with ruched sides, and an interior lining. Size medium has a shoulder-to-bottom hem length of 33". Hand wash.Notes from sweet girl:
okay, i love this. when you wear it, you should feel completely sexy and confident. you can do anything in this dress. the lace makes it 20s, and everything about it says glamorous. it's lovable, short, and to the point. i like it a lot.
Beaded Sequin Shawl from Forever 21 ($14.80)
Notes from Forever 21:
Add a glamorous touch to your look with this beautiful mesh shawl bedecked with sequins and beads.Notes from sweet girl:
this is verrry 20s. it's one of the most 20s things in the outfit. it's great, but only wear it when going for a glamorous 20s look. it's not something to be taken lightheartedly. for real.
Tulle Bow Headband by Forever 21 ($4.80)
Notes from Forever 21:
A skinny satin-covered headband topped with a tulle bow trimmed with feathers.Notes from sweet girl:
oh, i love this. it's so 20s. the feathers. the mesh. the satin. it's very classy. no, sassy. okay, both. it's sclassy. oh! new word alert, people! new word alert!
Eye Definer in Taupe by the Body Shop ($11.00)
Notes from the Body Shop:
Notes from sweet girl:Best if you want to: Emphasize your eyes with a long-lasting, blendable eye liner that is soft yet firm enough to be smudge-resistant.
Best for: all skin tones
What it is designed to do:
- Natural waxes help to enable smooth, easy application while moisturizing and conditioning delicate eye skin.
- Vitamin E is an antioxidant that helps protect skin from harmful environmental aggressors.
- Community Trade marula oil from Namibia helps to condition skin over time and restore skin’s moisture barrier.
god i love the body shop's notes. they do such a good job. anyway, just use this to line your waterlines and right under and above your eyes, and smudge it. that's essential, because 20s makeup was very soft-looking. still, you'll want a lot of it.
Beauty Rush Sparkling Eyeshadow in Flashblack by Victoria's Secret ($7.00)
Notes from Victoria's Secret:
Give your eyes a new twinkle with luminous eye shadows infused with sparkling pearl for a super-shimmery finish. Mix and match shades to create your own unique sparkling eye looks. Imported.Notes from sweet girl:
this stuff is excellent. i love it SO MUCH!! anyway, just layer it on rather generously on your lid up to the crease. smudge.
the decades
ok. what i'm going to do is totally cliche, but seriously. who can resist clothes form the past? i'm going to do a collection from each of the decades after the 1900s and up through the 1990s. i can't wait to do the 60s... okay, so i'll start from the 20s. you'll start seeing them soon.
thanks for reading.
love ya.

first look!

sexiness: hot

fance: party time
this look is a misty abyss, a swirling crystal ball and a sea teeming with life in the simplicity of a blank sheet of paper. what I love about this is all of the textures all of the things in it have and the way they blend into one smooth, soft look that is subtle but at the same time jarring. i'm naming it navy spark is because of the navy blue base color and the sparkle and shine in the makeup and shoes. it's a party look, but the dress and cardigan could easily be casual with a pair of flats and a newsboy hat. enjoy!
Twill Button Tube Dress from Charlotte Russe ($24.99)
Notes from Charlotte Russe:
Go for a breezy casual look with this Twill Button Tube Dress featuring a textured twill fabric, contrast twill trim, fold over neckline, button details at the empire waist, wrap front with pleat details, stitched stripes along the bottom hem, an exposed back zipper closure, and an interior lining through the bust. Size medium has a top-to-bottom hem length of 28". Machine washable.
Notes from sweet girl:
i. love. this. dress.
it's sort of business chic but it's also deeply romantic (the navy blue sets the romance, the white is the conservative side). though it's business chic, because it's a tube you can't really wear with a cardigan (which i'll explain later), that doesn't mean it's something you would wear to the office. it's great if you're going for a bit of a bold, sexy feel with the look of a sailor or a schoolgirl. for parties? sure! if you're trying to impress someone but are feeling a little shy, this is definitely the way to go. the only downside is the big buttons. they're a great touch, i can see the designer had an eye for detail, but if you wear a fitting sweater or cardigan over it, they're going to show and it will look like something's wrong with your boobs. seriously. so, my only warning: wear with a loose cardigan you can't fasten (flyaway style; i'll show one in the look) or don't wear anything over it. go for summer or autumn here.
Tonal Platform Pumps in Ivory from Charlotte Russe ($26.99)
Notes from Charlotte Russe:
Adorable with dresses or denim, these Tonal Platform Pumps features contrasting matte and crinkle faux leathers, panel details, stitching detail, almond toe, 4 1/2" covered heel with an interior platform, and a lightly padded insole. Faux leather upper and rubber sole.Notes from sweet girl:
these shoes say to me, "i am bold. i am strong. i am woman."
however, there is still a little snag. the shoes are great with the dress, right? right. why the hell would i have put them together? anyway, the point i'm trying to make is that you need to wear them with the right thing. here's what i mean. scenario one: you, in these shoes and a cute, short, sexy dress like the one pictured above, are walking to go pick up some groceries. i know what you're going to say. big deal! who cares what you wear to get your groceries? but people do care. subconsciously, or even consciously sometimes, everyone who sees you judges you by your appearance, because that's all that they know about you. so don't you want do make a good impression? yes. you do. at least, i'd hope so... and that's why you wouldn't go with scenario two: you, in these shoes, and a neutral matching rest of ya (a la pencil skirt and turtle neck), are walking to pick up some groceries. and here is what an average person on the street would probably think if they had a choice. scenario one: "that girl is feminine, sexy, fashionable, and smart. i would totally be her friend right away if she came up to me and said 'hi.'" scenario two: "yuck. i can't believe that lady. what's with the pencil skirt? i do not want her near me, with her ugly sweater and granny shoes." okay, maybe i exaggerated it a little bit, but do you see what i mean? this is why i make outfits!
Ruched Sleeve Cardigan in Navy by Wet Seal ($14.95)
Notes from Wet Seal:
This cardigan is the perfect layering piece! Featuring a ruched half sleeve with an open front and drape pockets.
Notes from sweet girl:
this flyaway cardigan is fab! i guess it's not really flyaway, since that's not what they classify it as, but it's what i call it. it's also what express calls it, so you can choose to go there. whatever it is, though, it's fab. the only mistake you could make is by wearing this in white with this look. please. don't match too much. and i'm sorry for the tiny amount of info that wet seal gave us for this. it sucks, i know, to have like no info on the sweater. at least you get some stuff from me!
Shimmer Cubes Palette 15 from the Body Shop ($22.00)
Notes from the Body Shop:
Best if you want to: Create intense smoky eyes perfect for the Autumn season with a palette of rich, glimmering eye color.
Best for: all skin tones
How it works:
- Light-diffusing particles a
nd pearl pigments provide shimmer and sparkle and help to disguise fine lines.- Community Trade marula oil helps to repair skin's moisture barrier.
- Convenient, lightweight pack is fully recyclable and provides four cubes in one; carry the full palette or one color for easy, on-the-go application
![]()
Notes from sweet girl:
gotta love this palette. it fits the look perfectly. i'm not going to do a tutorial for it, because of my ugly ass face, but xsparkage (leesha), who is bee-yoo-tee-full, has a tutorial on smokey eyes on youtube. use that as your blueprint and this palette and your imagination to take you away. i know, xsparkage uses really nice makeup (mac, ben nye, etc.), so if you want you can go to the mac website and find similar shades. make sure they're shimmery, though! this is a bright, bold look, but it's frivolous. sparkle!
new!
warning!! if you don't love fashion, disappear. we don't want you.
okay, so i totally agree with you. like, who would ever not read my blog? don't we ALL love fashion??? anyway, i guess i'm starting this blog because i love making looks for people. like, if you have no fashion sense, i can give you a makeover and it totally flies with all your girls. and i mean, even if you don't have all the stuff i tell you to buy for your new look, just diy it! i'll totally write some stuff on diy. so let's have some fun and get started.
wait, i actually have a little more stuff i want to say.
so the way this blog will work is that i'll write a post at least every week (probably every day) with a bunch of links to clothes, makeup, and other such things that every fashionista loves. i'll describe the color scheme, perks, mood, and cost of the look, and i'll have images of the products you'll need to buy. below is my scale for friendliness, sexiness, intelligence, comfort, and fance (fanciness, formality, whatever) of each look (they are on a scale of one to four, one as the lowest and four as the highest).
friendliness:
1: mean girls. 2: bitch on occasion. 3: f(r)iendly. 4. sweetheart.
sexiness:
1: comfort chic. 2: pretty. 3: hot. 4: slut!!
intelligence:
1: p!nk: stupid girls. 2: C. 3: B. 4: teacher's pet.
comfort:
1: beauty is pain. 2: heels and vinyl. 3: heels. 4: comfort chic
fance:
1: sleeping out. 2: casual. 3: party time. 4: wedding day.
okay, if you didn't get all the references in that, you have some movie watching, music listening, and living to do. anyway, to explain this further: i'll rate each outfit for how friendly you appear in it, how sexy you appear in it, how intelligent you appear in it, how comfortable you will probably feel in it, and the fance of the occasion you should wear it to.
oh my gosh, i love this stuff!
okay, a little about me.
i'm a thirteen year old girl living in illinois. i guess i'm actually pretty smart (like, you can so tell...), and i don't want to do this when i'm an adult. i actually want to go into politics (democrat. right here.). i love teen fashion but i also will do some adult looks, and some kid looks, and some looks to get you older girls looking young again! i love music, my friends, my bunny owen and my cat hondo, and i really like photography. english is sooo my favorite class because of my teacher (who i sadly won't have again until junior year) and because i love the things we read (especially shakespeare!!!). enough about me! let's talk about you! post a comment below about why you want to follow my blog and what kind of looks you'd like to see in future posts.thanks for reading, girls!
love ya!
